Ways We Help
The Focus of Our Efforts
Foundation Initiatives
1. Operation Big Book Bag:
Operation Big Book Bag is a program focused on providing educational materials, equipment, and school supplies to school-aged children who are educationally at-risk, residing in local homeless shelters and extended-care hospitals and facilities. Through this program, chapters and members of Epsilon Chi Sigma collect and donate essential educational resources to improve the educational outcomes for these vulnerable children.
2. Women's Wellness Initiative:
The Women's Wellness Initiative aims to address health issues that disproportionately affect women, specifically women of color. This initiative was developed after Epsilon Chi Sigma Sorority's participation in the United Nations/March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness panel in New York. The program focuses on promoting awareness and prevention of Breast Cancer, Intimate and Domestic Violence, Heart Health, Diabetes Health, Mental Health, and other issues targeting women. The initiative empowers women to make informed decisions about their physical, mental, and emotional health, while also promoting equitable representation of African American women in health studies.
3. Swim 1922:
Swim 1922 is an initiative that seeks to strengthen USA Swimming's commitment to diversity and inclusion by breaking down barriers created by a lack of access and exposure to swimming. The program aims to increase swim participation and decrease drowning rates among underrepresented communities by expanding our footprint in the local community through educational programs and outreach efforts.
4. Annual Youth Symposium:
The Annual Youth Symposium is an event designed to be relevant in the lives of our youth. This program aims to improve educational and behavioral outcomes among young individuals by providing them with the necessary resources and support.

6. Project Cradle Care:
Project Cradle Care is a vital program conducted by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, which aims to raise awareness of the disparate and inequitable maternal and infant health outcomes experienced by Black women. Through community outreach, advocacy, education, and implicit bias training, the program seeks to mitigate outcome and life-course disparities faced by Black women and infants.

Education
The initiatives implemented by Epsilon Chi Sigma Foundation offer several benefits to the community. These include improved educational outcomes, better behavioral outcomes among at-risk youth, highly anticipated annual events supported by local communities, and the promotion of diversity, inclusion, and equity within our society.
